Recently, the Opening Ceremony for 2025 International Students of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) was grandly held at Nanshan Art Center, Chang'an Campus. The event was attended by Dean of the International College Kong Jie, Vice Dean Li Ziwei, Prof. Yan Qilong from the School of Astronautics as the faculty representative, and faculty representatives from various offices of the International College, alongside all 2025 international students.
At the start, Liu Lu from the Admissions Office provided a detailed overview of the 2025 enrollment. The cohort showed significant improvement in student quality, broader country distribution, and an increasingly diversified profile β including the proportion of students from QS Top-1,000 universities and the distribution of IELTS and HSK scores.
Senior student representatives Lu Junyu and Lixin took the stage to share their experiences at NPU. They encouraged freshmen to courageously try new things and actively explore opportunities.
Freshmen representatives also spoke. Hao Yu, an undergraduate from Egypt, and Bailu, a master's student from Turkey, expressed anticipation for university life and pledged to devote themselves to diligent study and unremitting effort.
Alumni representatives Silang from Turkmenistan and Yang Yingxiang from Indonesia delivered video messages, encouraging the Class of 2025 to set clear goals and persevere with consistent effort.
As the faculty representative, Prof. Yan Qilong offered three suggestions: actively adapt to cultural differences and learn Chinese; stay focused on studies and remain curious; and become bridges of friendship by sharing cultures and promoting international exchange.
Dean Kong Jie warmly welcomed all new students and offered three key suggestions: be open-minded and embrace diversity; be proactive in studies and campus life; and be resilient, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth.
The ceremony recognized orientation volunteers who organized welcome activities. They were presented with certificates in recognition of their dedication.
At the conclusion, all leaders, guests, faculty representatives, and the 2025 international freshmen stood together to sing the NPU anthem. Students from around the world then formally pinned on the NPU badge, marking the beginning of a new journey.
