Who Can Apply
Eligibility Requirements
Non-Chinese citizens with valid passports who meet the academic and language requirements below are welcome to apply to NPU's undergraduate programs.
Academic Requirement
High school graduation certificate or diploma by 1 September 2026. Average score of 75% or above. SAT, A-Level, and IB qualifications accepted.
Language — Chinese
HSK Level 5 (180 or above) for Chinese-medium programs. Native Chinese speakers or those with equivalent schooling may be exempt.
Language — English
IELTS 6.0+, TOEFL 80+, Duolingo 115+, or Cambridge Advanced for English-medium programs.
Health
Good physical and mental health. No infectious or contagious diseases that would affect study or campus life.
Citizenship
Non-Chinese nationals with valid passports. Former Chinese citizens must meet additional requirements per regulation.
Guardian Letter
Applicants under 18 must submit a guardian guarantee letter signed by a Chinese citizen or resident guardian.
Deadlines
Application Timeline — 2026
NPU reviews applications in four rolling batches. Early applicants receive merit-based priority. The program runs on a September intake only.

Results are communicated by email within approximately 10 working days of each batch deadline. Admission closes as soon as capacity is reached, so early application is strongly recommended.
CSCA test results or a registration screenshot must be submitted by 20 May 2026.

Required Documents
Prepare all documents before starting your online application. All non-English/Chinese documents must be officially translated and notarised.
- Valid passport copy (valid through 30 Oct 2026)
- High school diploma or certificate and official transcripts (original or notarised)
- Personal statement and CV
- Talent video (optional but recommended)
- CSCA test results or registration screenshot (deadline: 20 May 2026)
- Language certificate — IELTS / TOEFL / Duolingo / Cambridge Advanced (exemptions for native speakers)
- Non-criminal record certificate (valid within 6 months)
- Awards, competitions, or research achievements (if applicable)
- Medical examination form (valid within 6 months)
- Guardian guarantee letter (applicants under 18 only)
- Bank statement showing USD 5,000 balance (6-month history)

Costs
Tuition & Fees
All figures are per academic year in Chinese Yuan (CNY) unless noted. Scholarship recipients may have tuition and/or accommodation fully covered.
Funding
Scholarships
Multiple scholarship tracks are available for new undergraduate students. Only one scholarship may be held at a time. Early applicants receive priority consideration.
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) — Type A
Full tuition + accommodation + insurance + living stipend of 2,500 CNY/month. Administered by the China Scholarship Council.
Xi'an Belt and Road Scholarship
First Prize: 100% tuition + 1,500 CNY × 12 months. Second and Third Prize options also available based on merit.
NPU Presidential Scholarship
First Prize: 100% tuition + 1,500 CNY × 12 months. Second and Third Prize tiers available for strong applicants.
Current-Student Scholarships
Additional government and alumni-funded scholarship awards are available once you are enrolled, based on academic performance.
Application Steps
How to Apply
The entire process takes place online. Follow these steps to submit your application to NPU's undergraduate program.
- Step 1Gather and prepare all required documents (see checklist)
- Step 2Create an account and start your online application at admission.nwpu.edu.cn. Complete the psychological evaluation.
- Step 3Upload all supporting documents and pay the 600 CNY application fee.
- Step 4Admissions Office verifies authenticity; academic schools assess competency (~10 working days per batch).
- Step 5Shortlisted applicants are invited for an interview or additional assessment.
- Step 6Receive offer letter by email. Pay the 3,000 CNY registration deposit to confirm your place.
- Step 7Receive official Admission Letter and Visa Application Form (JW202). Apply for your student visa (X-visa).
- Step 8Complete online pre-registration in August and attend on-site registration in late August – early September 2026.
