Who Can Apply
Eligibility Requirements
Non-Chinese citizens with a recognised bachelor's degree and the required language proficiency are eligible to apply for NPU's Master's programs.
Academic Requirement
Bachelor's degree by 1 September 2026. Minimum average of 75% (80% for CSC scholarship applicants). Degree must be from a recognised institution.
Language — Chinese
HSK Level 5 (200 or above) for Chinese-medium programs.
Language — English
IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL 90+, Duolingo 120+, or PTE 60+ for English-medium programs.
Supervisor Acceptance Letter
Required by specific schools. Prospective students are encouraged to contact potential supervisors early and obtain a letter before applying.
Health
Good physical and mental health. No infectious diseases or conditions that would affect study.
Citizenship
Non-Chinese nationals with valid passports (valid through 31 December 2026).

Four rolling batches with the CSC scholarship deadline falling in Batch 2. Early applicants are given merit-based priority.

Required Documents
All non-English/Chinese documents must be officially translated and notarised. Have all documents ready before starting your online application.
- Valid passport copy (valid through 31 Dec 2026)
- Bachelor's degree diploma and official transcripts
- Two professor recommendation letters
- Study plan (use the official NPU template)
- Language certificate — IELTS / TOEFL / Duolingo / PTE
- Non-criminal record certificate (valid within 6 months)
- Supervisor acceptance letter (required for specific schools)
- Medical examination form (valid within 6 months)
- Bank statement showing USD 5,000 balance

Tuition & Fees
All figures in CNY per academic year. Scholarship holders may have tuition and accommodation fully covered.
Funding
Scholarships
Scholarships are available from multiple sources. Only one scholarship may be held at a time. CSC deadline falls in Batch 2.
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)
Full scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, insurance, and monthly living stipend. CSC deadline is 28 Feb 2026.
NPU President Scholarship
Merit-based scholarship for outstanding international master's applicants. Covers partial or full tuition.
Xi'an Belt and Road Scholarship
City-level scholarship for students from Belt and Road Initiative countries. Multiple prize tiers available.
CSC Youth of Excellence Scheme
Multiple specialisations available under the CSC Youth of Excellence programme for high-achieving applicants.
Application Steps
How to Apply
The application is completed online. Follow these seven steps to submit your master's application.
- Step 1Prepare all required documents including study plan and recommendation letters.
- Step 2Create an account at admission.nwpu.edu.cn and complete the online application form and psychological evaluation.
- Step 3Upload supporting documents and pay the 600 CNY non-refundable application fee.
- Step 4Admissions Office and academic schools review your materials (~10 working days after batch deadline).
- Step 5Shortlisted applicants invited for interview or examination (7–10 working days post-deadline).
- Step 6Receive offer letter by email. Pay 3,000 CNY registration deposit to confirm.
- Step 7Receive Admission Letter and JW202 form. Apply for X-visa and complete online pre-registration in August.
