Your Path from Admission to Registration
Most international students follow this sequence between receiving the JW202 form and completing registration on campus.
- Step 1 · Receive DocumentsAfter acceptance, NPU mails the Admission Notice and JW202 visa application form to your address.
- Step 2 · Apply for X VisaApply at the Chinese embassy/consulate in your country with your JW202, Admission Notice, valid passport, and physical examination record.
- Step 3 · Book Flight to Xi'anPlan to arrive at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport during the registration window noted in your admission letter.
- Step 4 · Travel to NPU CampusUse the airport shuttle, subway, or taxi to reach NPU Youyi or Chang'an campus. See the Transportation page for routes and fares.
- Step 5 · Check Into DormitoryPay annual housing fees, collect a check-in notice from the International Student Management Office, then move in.
- Step 6 · Complete RegistrationSubmit original admission documents at the International College, complete academic registration, and attend orientation.
- Step 7 · Police & Residence PermitRegister with the local police station within 24 hours of arrival, and apply for the Residence Permit within 30 days for X1 visa holders.
Travel Checklist
Documents You Must Bring to NPU
Bring the originals of every item below in your carry-on luggage. Make at least three photocopies of each — they will be requested at registration, the bank, and the police station.
- Original Admission Notice issued by NPU
- Original JW202 / JW201 visa application form
- Valid passport with X1 or X2 visa
- Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (original)
- Notarized highest academic transcript and diploma
- Language proficiency certificate (HSK / IELTS / TOEFL) where required
- Eight recent passport-size photos (white background, 33×48 mm)
- First-year tuition and accommodation funds (cash, card, or wire receipt)
- Proof of scholarship (if applicable)
- Multiple photocopies of every item above
